Goals For The Trip

The three main goals of the Route Less Paddled Canoe Expedition are:

1. Use wilderness travel that starts close to home to encourage others to get out and explore their backyards or areas close to home and see them as places worth protecting.

2. Show the importance of keeping these expanses of untouched land protected and undeveloped while highlighting cultural, ecological, and environmental aspects across Minnesota and Canada. (Using water sampling, ecological records, etc. )

3. Expand the knowledge of the traditional routes and their uses that we are paddling and their interconnectedness to a wider base of paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts.

We plan to accomplish these goals through various forms of media: presentations, this website, and detailed maps of the route. Through these, we plan to show a wider audience that everyone’s backyard holds grand adventures, and the last remaining untouched waterways and land we have are worth protecting for future generations to experience.
